THIS week millions of teenagers will get their GCSE results. Some will be ecstatic but others face disappointment and may not know where to turn. But if your results aren’t what you had hoped, don’t despair. They are not the be-all and end-all, as these four women show. They all struggled with exams yet found success in the business world through hard work. CLARE O’REILLY and LOUISA GREGSON find out how they did it. Jodine, 2 GCSEs, best-selling teething mitten JODINE BOOTHBY created teething mitten Gummee Glove, which is now sold in more than 20 countries. Jodine, 38, had 27 jobs in less than a decade, before starting her business empire. She lives with partner Steve, 41, son Jimmy, seven, and daughter Charlie, five, in Calstock, Cornwall. She says: I got my first part-time job as a Saturday girl at a hairdressers when I was 15. I struggled with confidence at school and rather than say I didn’t understand something, I’d muddle through pretending.
