Vietnam kick-starts second census on socio-economic status of 53 ethnic minorities

>>> IT applied in census on socio-economic status of 53 ethnic minorities The event was held by the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs (CEMA) and the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) in coordination with Tuyen Quang People’s Committee. The survey aims to provide comprehensive information on population, population distribution, access to infrastructure, economy, poverty, social security, culture, education – training, human resources, health, rural sanitation, Party officials, free migration, religious beliefs and rural security in ethnic minority areas to form information and statistical systems, which reflect the status of 53 ethnic minority groups in service of State management on ethnic affairs, as well as administering and creating socio-economic development policy making for ethnic minority and mountainous areas. The census’s subjects include actual residents in ethnic minority households by the time of the survey; the socio-economic and housing conditions of ethnic minority households; economic, social security, cultural, healthcare and education situation of communes, wards and towns in ethnic minority areas.
