BREAKING NEWS: ‘We are incredibly saddened to have lost three of our closest friends’: Australian death toll in the New Zealand volcano tragedy rises to SEVEN

Three more Australians have died in the White Island volcano disaster, shattered friends have confirmed.  Jason Griffiths, 33, from Coffs Harbour, NSW, has died from his injuries after he was taken to hospital in critical condition.    He had been travelling with couple Karla Mathews, 32, and Richard Elzer, 32, who were among those still on the island and are now dead, friends said.  The pair were among the seven Australians named as ‘officially missing’ or ‘not in hospital’ by New Zealand Police on Wednesday.  The victims’ friends and families issued a statement to the media on Wednesday evening:  Jason, Karla and Richard Jason Griffiths (pictured), 33, from Coffs Harbour in New South Wales, is in hospital in critical condition after the eruption ‘On the 4th of December 2019, we embarked upon a cruise as a group of 9 close friends who were looking forward to a wonderful holiday together.
