Emergency crews responded to reports of the plane carrying two people crashing while attempting to land at Heck Field airstrip about 9.30am, The Courier Mail reported. The pilot is believed to be a 64-year-old Helensvale man, who died at the scene. His passenger, who was also in his 60s, was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital with burns.
