POLICE are investigating an active shooter scene at a gun store in the New Orleans metropolitan area that has left three people dead and two more in serious condition. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently on scene at the Jefferson Gun Outlet located at 6719 Airline Drive in Metairie, a neighborhood in the New Orleans metropolitan area not 10 minutes from the city’s downtown area. There have been multiple fatalities in the active shooter situation, officials have said . Sheriff Joe Lopinto addressed reporters at the scene, telling them it the sheriff’s office investigation was still developing. Three people were pronounced dead and two people were rushed to the hospital, one of which in critical condition. When deputies arrived at the scene just after 2:50PM, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshots. Lopinto said the gunman entered the gun store with a loaded gun unholstered. The man then got into an argument with the clerk, who told him he was not allowed to have a loaded gun in the store until he arrived inside the range.
